The Bill of Financial Responsibilities® Project, together with Reason Foundation and The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) are pleased to present a one-hour program entitled…

Fixing America’s Fiscal Mess – A Time For Advanced Citizenship
What we the people need to do and what might happen if we do not.

Congress and major political parties have consistently failed to properly manage the more than $4 trillion of tax money we send to Washington every year. Decades of federal government financial malpractice have produced $31 trillion in national debt, record-setting budget deficits, soaring inflation, and future unfunded obligations that now exceed $100 trillion.

A balanced budget Constitutional amendment is not enough to fix all this; federal officials must be required to permanently follow an entire set of prudent financial practices. You’re invited to join a one-hour Reason Foundation webinar on Sept. 15 at 3 pm ET examining these critical issues, including:

  • Major fiscal policy errors over the last century and how Constitutional rules to provide proper financial safeguards will fix them.
  • Why Americans should be concerned about the national debt burden being placed on future generations and how the commonly reported national debt figures significantly understate the country’s actual financial obligations.
  • How the federal government has relied on the Federal Reserve and other countries to buy America’s debt securities with newly created dollars and why this is risky.

Presenters and speakers at the Sept. 15 webinar will be:

  • Dr. Jeffrey Rogers Hummel, professor emeritus of economics at San Jose State University, will assess the federal government’s current financial situation, explain the history of the national debt and inflation, and examine potential outcomes if federal fiscal policy is not changed.
  • John H. Ramsey, a senior fellow at Reason Foundation and a retired senior financial executive, will detail the Bill of Financial Responsibilities® Project, an initiative he founded that recommends a package of five interrelated Constitutional Amendments to permanently solve the country’s fiscal malpractice.
  • Marc Joffe, a senior policy analyst at Reason Foundation, will host the webinar and present Reason’s new data tool, Debtor Nation, showing the impact of the U.S. running federal budget deficits in 52 of the last 57 years. Joffe’s work has recently appeared in The Wall Street Journal and The Hill.

Registration is required for this Sept. 15 webinar, so please register in advance here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email on how to join the webinar.
